South Madison Community School Corporation employs over 580 dedicated individuals, making the school corporation one of the largest career destinations in Madison County.

SMCSC operates on a balanced calendar allowing for one week off for fall break, two weeks off for winter break, up to two weeks off for spring break depending on snow makeup days, and nine weeks off in the summer.

Educators

Our teachers provide outstanding educational opportunities each day.  Their dedication to excellence has resulted in successful outcomes for our students. 

Educator Compensation:

South Madison Schools has reached agreements to provide our teachers with a competitive salary but what sets us apart from other districts are the benefits that comprise our total compensation package. Our compensation package for educators includes salary, savings/retirement, medical, vision, dental, and life/disability insurance. Below is a summary of our current compensation package.

2023-24 Teacher Salary Range: $46,888 - $92,753
2024-25 Teacher Salary Range: $50,000 - $95,865

Health Insurance:
Traditional Plan Employee Cost: Single:  $1,850.40/year Family: $5,126.40/year

High Deductible Health Plan Cost: $1.00/ Year

Paid Leave Days:
Educators are provided up to 15 paid personal/sick leave days each year as well as paid leave for reasons such as professional responsibilities and bereavement.
Educators who become new parents are provided up to 15 days paid leave.

Before/After School Childcare:
Employees are eligible for free before and after-school childcare while at work through our Kids Connection program.

Employee Health Clinic:
Employees participating in the district health plan have unlimited access to a professional primary care team and a broad scope of primary care services, as well as annual physicals and health coaching at no cost to employees or family members covered by the health plan. Select labs and high-quality generic drugs also are available when prescribed by a clinic provider. 

Support Staff

When the community thinks of schools they often think of teachers, but schools do not run with teachers alone. Our support personnel play a  very important part in the success of our school system. 

Custodians, secretaries, and other support staff like classroom instructional assistants, bus drivers, maintenance employees, food service staff, technology professionals, and financial personnel make up more than half of our employees.

Support Staff Compensation: 

Depending on work function and schedule, our total compensation packages can include salary, medical, dental, vision, wellness, life insurance, disability, savings, and retirement. 

We also offer flexible schedules, including seasonal breaks, part-time opportunities, and paid vacation for some employee groups.
